Our Mission

At First United Methodist Church our mission is to be an irresistible catalyst of change for the love of Jesus Christ. We strive to build relationships beyond the walls of our church, and to create life changing worship and learning opportunities for people of all ages.

You are welcome at First United Methodist Church, no matter who you are or what your circumstances. At First United Methodist Church, we want each person to discover their own unique God-given way of making the world a better place.

As United Methodists, we believe in the historic teachings of the Christian Church. Like every generation of followers of Christ, we also believe God is calling us to discover ways of making these ancient teachings intelligible and accessible to our contemporary context.

We believe in God’s love and forgiveness of all people. We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. And we believe in celebrating the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.

Children are welcome in any worship service! Children’s packets are available at the entrance to each service filled with activities to keep little hands busy. Children’s Worship is held in the GREATRoom! Children will be dismissed from the worship service after the prayer time in the 8:30 a.m., 10:00 & 11:15 a.m. services. Children learn about the scripture of the day through storytelling, games and crafts.

Babies and Toddlers – Nursery care is available for all children 3 years old and younger during all the Sunday morning worship services from 8:30 AM to 12:00 Noon.

No. Your presence with us in worship is the gift. We often tell guests in worship not to monetarily give.
We come together to praise God in music, prayer and often in a celebration of communion. We have a time of learning and conversation as well. The 8:30 AM service is led by our choir and pianist/organist, while the 10:00 AM and 11:15 AM are led by our contemporary band. The 5:00 PM Saturday service is hymns sung along with pianist/organist. Also check out our YouTube as we post all of our services.
Each week you have the opportunity to hand in a postcard during the offering time. You can request additional information about something you heard or are wondering how to join. As a guest, If you provide phone number or email address we can contact you as recognition of your visit. You can ask questions then as well. Largely, we encourage people to develop a consistent attendance in worship before focusing on all the other ministry opportunities of the church.

Our Beliefs

As United Methodists, we believe in the historic teachings of the Christian Church. Like every generation of followers of Christ, we also believe God is calling us to discover ways of making these ancient teachings intelligible and accessible to our contemporary context.

We practice baptism of both infants and adults, accept baptisms from other traditions (we do not re-baptize), and welcome all people to the communion table.

The best way to find out what we believe is simply to come join us as we try to live life together as followers of Christ. Please come and be a part of the faith journey.

Our Staff

Daneil Hilty
Lead Pastor

I love to learn about other cultures, listen to all sorts of music, watch science fiction movies, read books by mystics, eat Indian food, and play boardgames. My greatest joy is spending time with my family.

Keith Vessell
Executive Pastor

I am a podcast junky. Love audio books and a vast array of music. My default is Americana. Enjoy reading a good mystery that is more quaint than fast paced. I also tend to like British authors, movies, radio and television shows for some unknown reason.

Jerry Kelly
Church Administrator

My personal interests are (in no particular order) music –most genres -, sports, being physically active, and travel. Spending time with family and friends is at the top of my list of things I like to do, particularly when combined with one or more of the list above.

Brenda Stoneburner
Children’s Ministry

Lindsay Dunn
Student Ministries

I am a student minister because I believe they are the greatest generation this world has ever known. I am passionate about Jesus, love people, and shamelessly addicted to coffee. I have ADD, and have been known to #squirrel. I love all kinds of music… and when I say all, I really mean ALL…. Except polka. It is my honor and joy to live life with the students of JCFUMC.

Paul Laemmli
Music Minister

I play music because it brings us together, and we have more commonalities than differences. I love podcasts, books, and late night discussion of philosophy, anthropology, and art. Nature centers my soul.

Steve Buchholz
Pastor of Congregational Care
Tom Strother
