VIM Opportunity…..
Mid-State District UMW will make a mission trip to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center(a part of UMCOR)  in Chatham, IL April 10 – 13, 2012.  While there, we will help pack, sew, assemble and do whatever work the center needs.   We will travel using MUMC’s church bus.  Lodging is in dormitories on the center’s campus.  We will do our own cooking but will enjoy a fellowship meal at Sugar Creek United Methodist Church on Wednesday night.  Chatham is not far from Springfield, IL, where there are several interesting Lincoln museums. It is anticipated the cost of the trip will be about $150 per person, plus personal money for the museums, etc.

We still have room for YOU to join us.  We have a total of 16 beds, although some of us will need to be “climbers” to get into the top bunks.  Interested????  We hope so.

To reserve YOUR place on this mission trip, contact LaVonne Patterson, 1125 St.Christopher, Columbia, MO 65201 lilpat@mchsi.com  573-239-3158   OR     Gail Wekenborg 10843 CR 391, Holts Summit, MO 65043 weksfarm@embarqmail.com  573-680-2974.

Legislative Learning Event
March 6 – 7 is the Legislative Learning Event at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, Jefferson City, MO.
This is a great event which provides insight into many social action issues, some of which are before the Missouri State Legislature.  Registration information is available on the UMW page of the Conference Website (moumethodist.org).

The Mid-State District has an award for first time attendees.  It is the Val Hinshaw award.  This award pays the registration fee, meals and lodging (if needed) for the event.  The application is in the Fall Meeting program book.  January 15, 2012 is the deadline for applications.  Send completed applications to:
Daisy Bautista, 324 Circle Drive,  Moberly, MO 65270                       660-263-3371.

While the event provides enlightenment on social action issues we all should be concerned about, it is particularly important for the SOCIAL ACTION COORDINATOR of each unit to attend this event.

Contact Daisy Bautista (660-263-3371) or LaVonne Patterson (573-239-3158) for more information.
