September Unit Meeting

Opening and Program:

 

Following a food and fellowship time hosted by Ruth Circle, the September meeting of the JCFUMC United Methodist women was called to order by President Juanita Rampy at 10:00 a.m. on September 7, 2011 in Room 107.  Twenty four members were present.

 

After a welcome and group reading of the UMW purpose, Chris Dumas presented a Church Eternal Service.  The theme was “Colors.” 

 

Mary Lou Gillilan presented the program, “Human Trafficking.”

 

Business Meeting   

 

Minutes and Treasurer’s Reports were submitted and approved.

 

Louise Schreiber presented the Epworth Prayer Calendar Book as an important tool in remembering those who have worked in mission for UMW.  Louise led us in prayer for those in mission around the globe.

 

Announcements

 

Juanita reminded everyone about the mid-state meeting to be held on Saturday, September 8.  A bus would be leaving at 8:00 a.m. for the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia.  Door prizes of books to be shared with Unit would be given from the district library. 

 

Margaret Allen announced Church Women United luncheon and quilt auction would be held on September 21st and that World Community Day would be the 28th of October or possibly November 11th.

 

Juanita reported that 15 members attended the mini school of missions in Mokane on August 27.  She also encouraged members  to attend the Project Patricia meeting on September 17.  There will be some last minute sewing, etc. to finish the maxi pads and a presentation.

 

Next month’s unit meeting on October 5 will include putting together the World Service kits for the Festival of Sharing.  Members were also asked to bring clean (could be used) blankets for “Blanket Sunday.”

 

There will be a joint meeting of JC FUMC and Wesley UMC October 10th at Wesley Church.  Programs will be presented by Gaye Irwin and Juanita Rampy.

 

Juanita led the group in a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned.
